Sculpture Series

In his “democracy of vision”, the photographer William Eggleston sought to represent the most mundane subjects with the same complexity and significance as the most elevated. My concept for this series was to create a body of work that places sculptures from various places side by side, equalizing their size and scale. (All the works are vertical and 36” x 24”in size.) Inspired by Eggleston’s vision, I wanted to “democratize” art in a way that neither unduly elevates or negates any one three-dimensional expression of visual form above another. In this way, the Sculpture Series could be related to my American Dream series. The series also comments on my own relationship with art and at the art world through the works I’ve selected to paint.
